The Irrigation Project on the course will be starting this fall.  The major work will be starting in September.  The workers will start to be on site in August with  mobilization of their equipment mostly in and around the maintenance building area.  Starting September 5th holes 3, 4 & 5 will be closed for the remainder of the season.  14a will be open for play having 16 holes for the remainder of the season. Next year work will be done on a hole by hole basis.  The scheduled date for completion of all holes is August 31, 2018.  We have one of the nicest courses in the province and this project will help keep it that way.  Pierre Vezeau, Course Superintendent, will be providing updates as work progresses.

The P.A. Exhibition Parade takes place Monday, July 31 at 7:00 pm.  PAG&CC is entering a float.  If you would like to walk with the float in the parade, please contact Pat Bibby 961-5353.  Thank you to Flaman's for providing the trailer for our float.

The September Steak & Shake Fundraiser has been cancelled for this year.  Instead it will be held in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club. We are collecting pictures presidents for the last .   If you have any pictures of these people or any other memorabilia, please bring it to the office.  We will be using them for a number of projects over the next eyar.

Management Structure Changes at PAGCC

To members of user groups, golfers, curlers, patrons of PAGCC Restaurant & Lounge and other stakeholders

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club Board is advising you of a business decision to move forward with a restructuring of management within our facility. Change is required and inevitable for any organization. Our varied and seasonal operation is incredibly complicated and offers up unending difficult challenges. However, this facility must become more profitable than it is today, so the status quo and not considering alternate ways of doing business is not an option.

It is no secret that for some time now we’ve been examining and searching for a potential partner to Lease out our restaurant & lounge. Although this has not been accomplished to date, reorganizing our structure with the hiring of a General Manager responsible for the total facility marketing (banquets, meeting rooms, golf course and user group interactions, curling leagues and ice activities) will prepare us going forward. It will also position us to achieve higher efficiency and profit while enhancing value to our user groups member base and employees.

Randy Whitter has been instrumental in our efforts to generate revenue, alter our restaurant and banquet business image and to expand the community customer base. He has worked unearthly hours and set the bar high with his talents. This has allowed us to successfully host many local gatherings along with Provincial / National events.

Randy has been an active participant during discussions of what is required to see this business be successful and results driven.  As we pursue a future Lessee and support the PAGCC Board’s strategy going forward, it is felt we can no longer ask Randy to continue making concessions month after month.  Therefore by mutual agreement, effective Friday May 15th.  Randy Whitter will be leaving our employ.

We wish Randy all the best in the future and sincerely thank him for all the time and effort he has put in at The Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club

Dueling Pianos

Are you ready for the biggest entertaining night the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club has ever seen?  You are going to want to be a part of this one.  The date is Friday Sept. 26.  You will want to book your tables fast as there will only be 50 tables of 8 available. Cost will be $50.00 a ticket.  This will include another fantastic meal from My Place Restaurant Catering and the Dueling Pianos entertainment act.  The venue is going to be a dressed up version of the ice surface, curtained off to a comfortable size.  I have a ton of ideas to make this a very much needed fund raiser that will attract a much more mature audience than our Spring Fling.  I am looking for volunteers to help out creating and planning this event.  Please contact Mark Pelechaty if you are interested in helping out. If you want to buy your tickets and sell some to friends that would be much appreciated. They will be ready in a couple weeks.

PAGCC Board of Directors Communication to Members

The board of the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club has made the decision to lease out the Food and Beverage operation of the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club. This decision was made after the Food and Beverage committee looked at various options to operate the Food and Beverage division of our Club. This option was deemed the best option to improve the financial stability of the club and allow us to continue to serve our members who curl and golf as well as the public.

A committee of the board has begun the process to find a suitable lease. Our staff have been an asset to our current structure and the board would like to see as many current staff as possible have the opportunity to remain if they desire with the new lease/management team. To that end we will work closely with the lease/management team to provide this opportunity. Our goal is to have the new structure in place within 90 days. In the interim the PAGCC will continue to operate the food and beverage business. In addition to these changes the board and active members will be working through a strategic planning session to develop a business plan on May 3 and 4th, 2014.

In addition to the changes in the Food and Beverage division the board has also made the decision that the day to day operation of the PAGCC needs to grow its membership and events that the facility hosts. To Market the facility and the game of curling we will be hiring a General Manager. The search for a General Manager will begin after our Strategic Planning session.

Staff or Members interested in participating in the Strategic Planning Session should contact
Larry White ; or Duane Hayunga at

5:00 – 11:00 pm

As you are aware, the Phelps’ home and all its contents were totally destroyed by fire. The PA Golf & Curling Club and friends of the Phelps are hosting a “Benefit Evening” to generate moral and financial support for them.
Please, consider supporting this family. The evening will have three components – refreshments, a supper and/or a “come & go” – where you can extend greetings to the Phelps, give a hug and make a contribution. Proceeds from the supper and refreshments will also be directed to the Phelps Family.
Imagine, your home on fire and, suddenly, there’s nothing.  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Where could one turn but to family & friends? Join us, as together we support them. It’s what a community does!

Evening’s Agenda

  • Doors open:  PAG&CC's Cosmo Room, 5:00 pm
  • Refreshments: 5:00 - 11:00 pm
  • Buffet Supper:  6:00 - 7:30 pm - $20/person
  • Thank-you for supporting Karen, Doug, Logan & Colton

If you cannot make it to this evening but you wish to make a donation to the family, please mail a cheque c/o Darcy Myers @ Cook Municipal Golf Course, 900 22nd St E, PA, S6V 1P1. Please make cheque payable to Doug & Karen Phelps. We thank you for your support.
